Call to writers: theme issue

UPDATE: FINAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS SEPT 15.

Storm Cellar is pleased to announce our first themed issue. Currently scheduled for fall/winter 2012/13, this issue is dedicated to women (who write). In addition to our usual guidelines, please be a woman, girl, or other female-identifying individual when submitting. Please note in your cover letter that you wish to be considered for this theme issue. That’s it! To send us your work, start here, or skip directly to Submittable.

  • We would love to see more art.
  • We would love to see nonfiction, or interviews, by, with, or about women (who are authors).
  • Submission topics are open. You don’t have to write about women writers — just be one!
  • All theme submissions will be considered for regular publication.
  • Reading period ends September 1, or whenever we take down the call to writers.

This themed issue is supported by a generous grant from Women and Gender Studies, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

We will continue to read general submissions.

READ ON

…and the magazine was born.

Last night at Cowboy Monkey in Champaign, Storm Cellar was released upon the world. Four authors tromped up the stage, read to the alcohol-swilling crowd, and took no prisoners.

Now, Storm Cellar will be ferreted out to several locally-owned establishments in the Champaign-Urbana area. An e-book version of the quarterly is in the works and should be availble to download from Etsy and Amazon soon.

Please check us out, and prepare to have your imagination tickled.
